A series of webinars for the promotion of coconut-related products
in Pakistan
The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Karachi and the Coconut Development Authority
in Sri Lanka are organizing a series of webinars for the promotion of coconut related
products such as fresh coconuts, king coconuts, and coconut water in Pakistan with the aim to promote Sri Lankan Coconut products in Pakistan.
The first session of the series was held on 5th October 2022 to promote kernel coconut
products, with the participation of the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan Vice
Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Karachi Jagath
Abeywarna, Chairman of Coconut Development Authority of Sri Lanka Keerthi
Weerasinghe, President of Pakistan Sri Lanka Business Forum Aslam Pakhali, Sri Lankan
officials and private sector participants from both countries. Two more sessions for the
promotion of other coconut-related products will be held on the 12th and 19th of October 2022.

The coconut industry is a thriving industry in Sri Lanka and Pakistan has the potential to
become a great market for Sri Lankan coconut-related products.
Pakistan also imports a considerable amount of coconuts and coconut-based products
from Sri Lanka i.e. coconut oil, desiccated coconut, and copra (90% out of total Sri Lankan
exports), fresh coconut (80% out of total Sri Lankan exports), ekels (100% of total Sri
Lankan exports), defatted coconut, and coconut fiber products.
